Viareggio

After our second Milan visit we boarded the train for Viareggio, a beach resort populated mostly by Italians. We planned to use it as a base to visit the Cinque Terre, but decided to conserve energy and just hang around, in addition to visiting nearby Pisa

More Ligurian Sea
Our train passed through Carrara, so we got a glimpse of the mountains from which Michelangelo selected his marble. We thought that white stuff was snow, but were told it is marble.
We arrived in Viareggio
We can cross off having touched the Mediterranean Sea (via the Ligurian Sea at Viareggio)
Ditto for William
The marina at Viareggio
We took a day trip to Pisa from Viareggio. This is the Arno, with the church of Santa Maria della Spina on the shore.
Does anybody in the entire universe not know what this is? We were struggling to figure out which is more famous, the Leaning Tower, Michelangelo's David, or Da Vinci's Last Supper, all of which we were privileged to see on this trip.
William ascended the tower and enjoyed the view.
Elaine got a little artsy and took this cool picture of the tower through an arch in the city wall.
We took the train from Viareggio to Florence, or next destination.
